This policy explains what we store on your device when you visit salary.lu, what each item is for, how long it stays, and how to change your mind.
We keep the list below accurate. If you find something on the site that is not described here, tell us and we will fix it.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. When you come back, the browser sends it again, which is how a site recognises you between pages or between visits.
Some cookies disappear when you close your browser - these are session cookies. Others stay for a set period, and are called persistent cookies. Alongside cookies we also use similar technologies such as local storage and advertising pixels; where we say "cookies" below, we mean all of them.
What we store, and why
Everything we store is listed below, in four groups. The analytics and marketing groups are the ones you control in the cookie banner; the other two are set because the site or your account needs them. Some entries only appear once you are signed in, or once you use a particular feature.

Inside your account
Part of the serviceThese belong to tools that are part of the platform itself, and they only ever appear once you are signed in. They are not set for visitors browsing the public site.

Marketing

Asking for your permission
When you arrive for the first time, we ask before setting anything for analytics or marketing. Neither is set until you accept it - the toggles start switched off, and closing the banner without choosing does not count as acceptance.
The banner covers the public site. The tools listed under "inside your account" are a different matter: they are part of the platform you have subscribed to, they only load once you have signed in, and they are not set for visitors browsing the public pages.
Refusing is as easy as accepting: the banner shows "Reject all" and "Accept all" side by side, and you can pick and choose in between.
We record your choice in the cc_cookie cookie so that we do not ask again on every page, and so that we can show what you agreed to if it is ever queried. That record lasts six months, after which we ask you again.
Changing your mind
You can change your choices at any time, and withdrawing permission is as straightforward as giving it.
Open your cookie settings to review or change what you have allowed.
Clearing your cookie choices takes effect immediately for anything we set. Cookies already placed by Google are removed on their own schedule, or you can delete them in your browser.
Using your browser instead
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies for a site. Bear in mind that blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop you signing in, and that browser settings apply to that browser only - you would need to repeat them on your phone.
Cookies set by other companies
Some of what is listed above is set by companies we work with rather than by us: Google for analytics and advertising, Crisp for the live chat, and Calendly for booking appointments. They handle that data under their own terms as well as ours.
Who those companies are, what they do for us and where they operate is set out in our privacy policy. To opt out of Google's advertising more broadly, use Google's ad settings; for advertising across the EU generally, youronlinechoices.eu.
Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever we add or remove something from the site. The date at the top shows when the list was last checked.
