The essentials
- What it is
- Full-time DAP and DT courses at a lycée must include at least 12 weeks of work experience across the training, in periods of at least 4 consecutive weeks of 160 hours each. Courses run under an apprenticeship contract include no placements: those students are apprentices.
- Pay
- No statutory allowance. A sector agreement may introduce one, so check with the school whether one covers the course. You may pay voluntarily.
- Insurance
- The student stays enrolled at the school and is covered by the school accident insurance throughout, so the employer files no CCSS declaration.
- Leave and protections
- Placements can fall in the school holidays, and the student keeps at least 26 days of annual recreation leave. Young-worker and maternity protections apply.
